Events: Kindergarten Night, PNO & Fall Festival

Please join the PDNPA on Wednesday, October 14, from 6-8 PM for Kindergarten Information Night.
The evening will include a presentation by a special guest speaker, Mike Riera, the director of Redwood Day School and a former Duck’s Nest parent, on kindergarten readiness and the application process, followed by a panel of current Duck’s Nest parents who have experience wrestling with kindergarten choices. Panelists include parents with children at both public and private schools, and those who struggled with deciding between both options. Free childcare is provided and refreshments will be served.

The first Parent's Night Out (PNO) is Friday, October 23rd from 6-10 PM.
It's a great way to enjoy some kid-free time while your child/ren have fun playing, watching movies and eating pizza with friends & Duck's Nest teachers. Please sign up by Friday the 16th by replying to the Evite. If you did not receive the Evite please let us know: ducksnestparents@gmail.com

This year’s PDNPA Fall Festival will be held on Halloween at Duck’s Nest from 10:30AM- 12PM.
The day will include music, storytelling, food, and harvest-themed arts and crafts. This is a fun way to reconnect with the Duck’s Nest community as we start another year, so be sure to mark your calendars. For those who want to continue their Halloween revels after the party ends, Piedmont Avenue is hosting its annual Halloween stroll that day, and the Mountain View Cemetery (a.k.a. “the meadow”) is hosting its annual pumpkin patch and harvest festival, as well. Celebrate the season!

Enrichment Programs from the PDNPA begin!
Lawrence Hall of Science will be returning this year with "Animal Friends", spending 30 minutes with each classroom exploring the world of animals, including some much-loved critter interaction time. The first visit will be Wednesday, October 28 and will continue each Wednesday for six weeks. If your child does not attend on Wednesdays, s/he is welcome to come in to participate with a parent or caregiver.

Important Reminders:
  • Annie Perrin is hosting the first (all classes) Room Parents meeting on the deck this Thursday the 8th at 9AM. Thank you to the many of you who volunteered. It's also never too late to join, so please stop by.
  • We are still looking for two individuals to take on the role of Scrip Coordinator and Philanthropy Coordinator. These are important roles that do not require a major time commitment. If you are interested or would like to know more please contact us: ducksnestparents@gmail.com
Have a great Fall!
