The Duck's Nest Parent Association (DNPA) is a non-profit organization run by parent volunteers of children attending the 41st St campus of Duck’s Nest Preschool. All parents are members of the organization.
The mission of the DNPA is to contribute to the enriching, safe and creative environment of Duck’s Nest Preschool and to foster a sense of kinship among the Oakland Duck’s Nest community of children, parents, teachers, administrators and the broader neighborhood.
To achieve these goals, the DNPA relies on the wealth of talent and enthusiasm of Duck’s Nest parents.

WHAT DOES THE DNPA DO?
This can vary from year to year, but typically the DNPA Board and other parent volunteers are responsible for:
- organizing and funding enrichment programs (Lawrence Hall of Science program in 2013-2018)
- coordinating school-wide events (Fall Festival, Literacy Day, Year End Party and the Holiday Party)
- supporting parent education (Kindergarten Information Night)
- offering appreciation for Duck's Nest teachers (monetary gifts and end-of-year dinner)
- consulting, as needed, with the school administration on behalf of the parents
- fostering philanthropy in our community (book drives, holiday adopt-a-family)
The funding for DNPA activities does NOT come from school tuition. The DNPA engages in fundraising activities throughout the year, and often organizes an annual auction. Individual donations to the DNPA are also welcome.
