The summer reading program at the Oakland Public Libraries has begun! Kids of any age can sign up and participate. You can
register online or in-person at your local branch. If you go in-person, you can get a charming reading log with stickers. For every day that your child reads or is read to by an adult, they can add a sticker to their log. Each time they reach 10 days, they receive a prize (coupons, free book, raffle entry, etc).

Coinciding with the summer program, the libraries host
special events for kids. Our family takes advantage of these at the Rockridge branch, which is just down the street from our house. We attended this week's magic show (on Tuesday from 7-8pm when the library is open late) and our girls loved it. Some kids show up in pajamas, since it's close to bed time.
Upcoming events at Rockridge include music, acrobatics, puppet show, paper airplane making (this Sat 6/20 4pm!) and petting zoo. Check out the
library events calendar for more details. Piedmont Ave and Temescal branches are also hosting events.
