Holiday Teacher Appreciation
For a number of years, the DPNA has fundraised and collected donations to give monetary gifts to each of our teachers to show our appreciation as we celebrate the holidays and new year. While families are free to give their own gifts to classroom teachers, please know that teachers and staff will receive a monetary gift from the DNPA on your behalf.
To make a tax-deductible contribution to the DNPA for holiday teacher appreciation gifts, you can:
- Leave cash or a check made out to Duck's Nest Parents' Association in the DNPA folder in your child's classroom or
Please let us know if you need a receipt for your tax records. Don't forget that the DNPA is a 501(c)3 and your employer may match your donation! A list of Bay Area employers that match is here.
Fundraising Update
We’re almost halfway to our goal for the school year. Thank you for all of your generous donations and support of fundraising activities!
Coming in February: Positive Discipline Course
The DNPA will be co-sponsoring another course in February with Julietta Skoog. We had a full house when she was here this past summer! Stay tuned for more information on the February date and time.
Julia is a Certified Positive Discipline Advanced Trainer with an Ed.S Degree in School Psychology and a Masters Degree in School Counseling from Seattle University with 15 years of experience in Seattle Public Schools. Her expertise includes early child development, autism, learning disabilities, anxiety, and behavior disorders, as well as leading friendship groups and classroom lessons based on Positive Discipline, Social Thinking and Mindfulness.

Where did you grow up? I was born in La Paz, Baja California, Mexico and grew up in Orange County.
Do you have any pets? One day...I will have a dog! But sadly no not yet.

How long have you been a teacher? Since 2005 (with a stint in radio in between)
What do you like to do on the weekend? I like to discover cool weekend getaways with my husband.
Is there anything else we should know about you? I am passionate about Anti-Bias Curriculum, Social Justice and Equity in ECE and beyond. I am interested in bringing in enrichment programs that provide these opportunities for our Duck’s Nest community.
